Sexy Fi

The journey of Sexy Fi this far is a tale of a musical connection formed in Brazil’s capital city while studying at the University of Brasilia. The friendship of vocalist Camilla Zamith and guitarist Praxis would go on to span the Atlantic, with Camilla relocating to London and Praxis taking up residence in Rio de Janeiro, all the while collaborating across the digital expanse resulting in the duo’s first album “Chora Matisse”, released in 2009 under the moniker of Nancy. On the back of these initial efforts the band was formed, appearing at a number of festivals across Brazil, ultimately embarking on a boutique tour in the U.S. culminating in showcase performances at the hallowed SXSW festival in Austin, TX.

Fast forward to 2011 at Soma Electronic Music Studios in Chicago, under the engineering talents of John McEntire (Tortoise), the band’s signature tropical-chic musicality was captured in this full-length offering “Nunca Te Vi De Boa”.

Alongside Brazil’s musical traditions exists a vibrant and contemporary musical landscape personified by the sultry yet captivating sound of Sexy Fi. Equal parts indie-rock, blues pop and Brazilian soul, Nunca Te Vi De Boa mirrors Brazil’s burgeoning role on the world stage. A metropolitan soundtrack to global living.
