As you'll know by now, the Far Out Monster Disco Orchestra is Far Out’s in-house Brazilian disco super group, featuring arrangements by the late, great Azymuth maestro Jose Roberto Bertrami and the legendary Arthur Verocai. Now on its 14th release, the remix series is a sizeable and ever-growing arsenal of disco and house weaponry, with a prolific list of contributors including Theo Parrish, Marcellus Pittman, Andrés, Dego, Mark Pritchard, John Morales, DJ Spinna and 4hero.
The latest offering comes from Glaswegian disco maverick Al Kent. Al is Scotland’s answer to Walter Gibbons, a global authority on disco music, and an expert in the art of the re-edit, which holds true more so than ever in his take on ‘Vendetta’, a soaring instrumental cut drawn from the original Far Out Monster Disco Orchestra double LP. Kent twists around the bouncing congas and Arthur Verocai’s chilling string arrangements for a striking up-tempo stomper with a fierce edge. It’s one of those precious 12”s that sits perfectly in between deep house and disco and a no brainer for DJs that play across that spectrum.
